Our Commitment

Saint Mary’s Cathedral is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. We are committed to delivering digital accessibility for all users and this website has been developed in line with recognised Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These standards have guided our approach to design, content, and functionality, helping us create an experience that is as inclusive and user-friendly as possible for everyone. We will continue to maintain and enhance the accessibility of this website as part of our ongoing commitment to digital inclusion.

Please be informed of the non-accessible content below:

Non-accessible Content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

▶️ Videos

Some of the videos on our site are shared from YouTube/Vimeo. These may not always have perfect captions or audio descriptions. We aree reviewing them and making changes where we can. All new videos will include reviewed captions going forward.

▶️ Livestreams

Providing fully accurate, synchronised captions for livestream videos in real time is currently not achievable due to the unpredictable nature of live content and limitations of current captioning technology. As a result, we are unable to guarantee that livestream captions meet the WCAG 2.2 AA standards during broadcasts.

Furthermore, due to limited resources, we are currently unable to provide reviewed captions for recorded versions of these livestreams. We understand the importance of accessible content and are actively exploring options to improve captioning support in the future.

The navigation for our embedded live stream player is not fully accessible currently as this is provided by a third party and outside our control. We are continuing to look for solutions to improve the accessibility of our livestream player.

▶️ Video galleries

Our website features a video gallery that includes embedded videos hosted on YouTube. These videos are provided as third-party content and may not meet full accessibility standards (e.g., captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions may be unavailable or inaccurate).

Because this content is hosted externally and not under our direct control, we are unable to guarantee its full accessibility. However, we are committed to making our site as inclusive as possible and are taking steps to improve the accessibility of the future video content we create.

🌍 Third-party tools

Our site sometimes uses content or services from other providers—like social media posts, maps, or online booking tools. We try to choose accessible options, but we can’t control everything about how these tools work.
