As a member of the Anglican Communion of Churches, The Church of Ireland teaches that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is central to the Christian faith.

Though humans are made in God’s image, sin separates us from Him. In love, God came into the world as Jesus—fully divine and fully human—to bring reconciliation through His death and resurrection, offering new and eternal life.

Christians believe in the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), as affirmed in the Apostles’ Creed, and that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, died, rose again, ascended, and will return. Prayer and the Bible are vital in knowing God, and the Ten Commandments, summed up by Jesus’ commands to love God and neighbour, guide Christian living.

The Church of Ireland recognises two primary sacraments—Baptism and Holy Communion—as means of receiving God’s grace. Baptism marks entry into the Church, and Holy Communion is a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice that spiritually strengthens believers.

The choir members are seated in dark wooden pews, holding hymnals or sheet music, while an audience sits in blue cushioned chairs in the background. Lit candles in glass holders are positioned along the choir stalls.

While the people who worship at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Limerick belong to the Church of Ireland, all Christians are welcome to visit, attend a service, pray, reflect, take a tour or enjoy a choral concert.
