Help Us Continue Our Work

The Friends of Saint Mary’s Cathedral was established to help support the Dean and Cathedral Chapter to maintain and enhance the Cathedral and its surroundings.

Firstly, the Friends of Saint Mary’s Cathedral generates much-needed funds to help improve the services, music and physical structure of the Cathedral including its fabric, fittings, furniture, ornaments, monuments and facilities.

The Friends of Saint Mary’s Cathedral also encourages the interest and participation of the young people of Limerick by funding education and dedicated activities. The Friends of Saint Mary’s Cathedral works to stimulate and maintain public interest in the Cathedral and supports the mission and purpose of the Cathedral in today’s world.

The Friends are united in their desire to support and maintain this 850-year-old Cathedral. Joining the Friends helps makes sure we can continue this important work.

Be Part of Our Community

We want to make sure all our Friends of Saint Mary’s Cathedral get to know each other as ‘friends’ – building a community with a shared passion. To help, we offer all members a programme of diverse activities – including lectures, excursions and social events.

Special Festivals and Festals

The Friends’ Christmas concert in the Cathedral showcases some of our talented young performers and each June we gather for the Friends’ Festival. This includes an opportunity to visit parts of the Cathedral and its precincts not otherwise open to the public, a Festal Evensong and participation in our AGM.

As a Friend of Saint Mary’s Cathedral, you’ll receive an annual membership card which gives you free access to the Cathedral, while new members can enjoy a special Welcome Tour of the Cathedral. All members receive a Newsletter each year to keep them updated on all Cathedral events and activities.
